Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The Journal Editorial Board, guided by the principles outlined in Clause 5 of Appendix 1 to the Order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated March 31, 2011, No. 127 (as amended by the Order of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated January 6, 2025, No. 4), formulates its position on the use of artificial intelligence technologies (hereinafter – AI) in scientific articles, taking into account the specifics of pedagogical research, ethical standards, and the principle of academic integrity, in order to maintain the quality of published materials.

The Editorial Board permits the use of AI in scientific articles exclusively for auxiliary functions and under the following conditions:

  1. Authors adhere to accurate, safe, and ethical use of information obtained through AI technologies.
  2. Authors disclose the use of AI technology by citing:
    • At which stages of the research and in what way the author(s) used AI technology;
    • A description of methods and procedures for verifying the reliability of obtained data and/or their processing and interpretation when using AI technologies;
    • References to the used AI technologies must include the technology name, manufacturer (rights holder), version, date of access and use. For example: OpenAI (2023) ChatGPT [Generative AI tool]. Available at: https://chat.openai.com/chat (Accessed: March 20, 2023).
  3. The absence of such disclosures is interpreted as confirmation by the author that no AI technologies were used in the scientific article.
  4. When using AI technologies for article preparation, the scientific results, statements, recommendations, and conclusions must be independently formulated by the author.
  5. The use of AI technologies is allowed for statistical processing of research results (questionnaires, tests, surveys, pedagogical experiments).

The use of AI technologies is prohibited in the following cases:

  1. For generating the article text (abstract, introduction, literature review, methodology, results, discussion, conclusions, and reference list).
  2. Using AI technology without referencing it, including specifying the name, manufacturer (rights holder), version, and date of access and/or use.
  3. Applying AI technologies to reduce or eliminate the possibility of plagiarism detection.
  4. Concealing plagiarism, i.e., altering text from "someone else’s" article using AI without citing the source.
  5. In empirical research involving children under 13 years old, due to ethical restrictions and the necessity to protect minors' rights.

For generating experimental data without actual experiment conduction (creation of fictitious data).
