The research is dedicated to the issue of developing play activities among senior group children in preschool organizations based on the Reggio Emilia approach. Reggio pedagogy is an innovative educational system aimed at the personal development of children by supporting their natural curiosity and creative abilities. This pedagogical method allows children to explore their environment, enhance creative skills, and acquire social competencies. Play activity is considered a key tool for children’s cognitive, emotional, and social development.
In the course of the study, senior group children from preschool organizations were divided into control and experimental groups, and various types of games were offered to them. In the experimental group, Reggio pedagogy methods were used, with games organized to promote active participation, increase children’s creative and cognitive activity. The research results showed that the level of engagement in play, creative abilities, and social interaction skills were higher in the experimental group than in the control group. This was especially evident in group work, taking initiative during play, and solving creative tasks.
The results of the study prove the effectiveness of implementing the Reggio Emilia approach in Kazakhstan’s preschool education system. This method contributes to children's personal development and the enhancement of their cognitive and social skills. The study suggests a wider use of play activities and the pedagogical values of Reggio Emilia in the preschool education process.
