Abstract

This article is devoted to one of the problematic issues, such as the formation of students' discursive competence. The authors emphasize the importance of forming students' discursive competence, as well as the need to identify the possibilities of using the communicative training method as one of the active teaching methods in forming discursive competence in the process of learning a foreign language. The article considers the role, place and significance of communicative training in developing students' discursive competence in the process of learning English. Discursive competence is defined as the ability to construct coherent and logical statements depending on the context of communication. The article reveals the levels of formation of discursive competence, methods of its assessment, a program of experimental work to identify the influence of communicative training on the process of developing students' discursive competence. The authors note that the successful development of discursive competence is due to the use of communicative training based on written text. The article presents the results of experimental work on the development of discursive competence in the EG and CG among 2nd year students of the specialty “Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages” of the NPJSC “Kostanay Regional University named after Akhmet Baitursynuly”. The results of the study contribute to the development of foreign language teaching methods and can be used in practical classes in a foreign language, as well as in seminars, conferences, trainings for university teachers and students.
