Abstract

This article is devoted to the study of one of the important factors influencing the quality of students' knowledge in the process of teaching English in secondary school – the personality of the teacher. The direct projection of the teacher's personality on the educational process is characterized. Various systems of personal characteristics of teachers are given. Personal qualities such as perceptual, organizational, volitional, communicative, creative, etc., which a modern teacher should possess today, are described. The importance of n-shaped universal skills is emphasized, which represent an innovative model within which a portrait of a successful specialist is laid out, producing high-quality results in the professional field.

The primary importance (the main idea) in this article is given to the comparative analysis of the psychological and pedagogical portrait, which differs depending on the age of the teacher and the teaching experience. To identify the level of psychological preparedness of teachers with different experiences, a hypothesis was formulated, for verification of which an anonymous survey was conducted, which successfully proved that the level of psychological stability of teachers with long teaching experience and professional experience is higher. The practical value of the results of this study is that they highlight some of the internal problems of the young teacher. During the preparation of the survey, such standard psychological tests as Z.I. Kushner's "Emotional stability", V.F. Ryakhovsky's "Identification of the level of sociability", V.V. Sinyavsky, and V.A. Fedoroshin's "Diagnosis of CBS" were studied, analyzed, and adapted to the target audience. 100 foreign language teachers took part in the survey, 28 of them young specialists, 72 teachers with long teaching experience.
